Project: NRPDTP PhD (2021–2025) Metagenomics of gut microbiome in ageing, fitness, and mortality within an isolated vertebrate population.

Based at University of East Anglia. Supervised by David Richardson, Hannah Dugdale, and Falk Hildebrand. Supported by Terry Burke, Jan Komdeur, and Nature Seychelles.

Chuen’s research focuses on the functional gut microbiome variation in relation to ageing, fitness, and mortality in an isolated vertebrate population. His goal is to determine changes in the microbiome using metagenomics to predict functional variation in the Seychelles warbler as individuals become older. Research in this area will contribute to the understanding of ageing and survival along with the interaction with the microbes in the gut.
