Project: Biomarkers of Senescence in the Seychelles warbler
My research is focused on explaining variation in ageing patterns between individuals. Several molecular and cellular changes are known to occur as individuals become older. These changes may offer new ways to measure ‘biological’ age.
My goal is to develop new biomarkers in the Seychelles warbler that predict an individual’s decline in survival and reproduction with age. I will then explore whether environmental, behavioural and social factors influence these biomarkers. This research will contribute to our understanding of ageing in an ecological context.
